We are delighted that Prof. Kathy Sylva, member of the Board of Governors of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education, Emeritus Fellow of Jesus College and Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology at the University of Oxford, has been elected to the British Academy.
Prof Kathy Sylva is a world class Early Childhood Education and Educational Psychology scholar who not only plays a key role in establishing the Free Quality Kindergarten Education Scheme in Hong Kong but also in developing YCCECE’s unique Early Childhood Education Bachelor’s Degree, Higher Diploma and Diploma programmes.
The British Academy is a highly prestigious independent fellowship of world-leading scholars and researchers in the humanities and social sciences and it also acts as a funding body for research, nationally and internationally, and as a forum for debate and engagement. Prof. Sylva’s election to the Academy is in recognition of her wide-reaching academic research and expertise in the role of learning experiences at home and early childhood centres in shaping children’s development, and the impact of that research on informing early years’ policy and practice.
