Utilizing the Learning Environment as a Third Teacher
YCCECE considers quality early childhood education (ECE) essential in developing young minds and ensuring societal success. It empowers a new generation of children to develop their confidence to become positive contributors to the greater global sustainability. For future educators, teachers and parents to gain a deeper understanding of ECE, the College presents you this online seminar series via ZOOM to hear from a variety of early childhood experts on challenges and opportunities, best practices and optimal ways to develop the next generation through quality ECE.
Topic 2: Utilizing the Learning Environment as a Third Teacher
The environment is an important teacher when it comes to Early Childhood Education.
A highly versatile learning environment raises children’s learning interest and fulfills their need for free play. While addressing children’s cognitive development, Maria Montessori, the world’s most renowned educator in Early Childhood Education has once stated that, “Children’s brains absorb knowledge from the surrounding environment, and they develop based on what they’ve acquired from the outside world. Therefore, it’s a must that we should try our best to create a fun and inspiring learning environment for the good of our children.”
Being the main agents in facilitating children’s learning and development, teachers and parents should always give consideration to and evaluate if they have created a learning environment that would foster independent learning and holistic development for their child.
Key topics to cover:
• Correlation between utilizing learning environment, free play and children’s holistic development
• Tips to choose the right learning resources
• Experience and case sharing on environment creation under international kindergarten settings
