Experience in teaching academic writing (e.g., skills related to research, APA citations, literature reviews) at various levels of study (diploma, higher diploma, bachelor degree). presentation skills, and/or professional writing for teachers is preferred. Experience in advising students in a Language Centre will be an added advantage.

Ability to teach various general education courses such as courses in the areas of Knowledge Acquisition (Critical Thinking, Philosophy of Teaching, Learning and Education), Arts, and Humanities and Social Sciences will be an added advantage. Other advantages include developing original teaching materials.

Requirement:

Professor Rank
1. A relevant Doctorate in teaching English or closely related field;
2. A distinguished record of effective teaching, educational management, curriculum design and development in Higher Education;
3. Significant contribution and international reputation in high quality scholarship and research; and
4. Demonstrated academic leadership;

Associate Professor Rank
1. A relevant Doctorate in teaching English or closely related field;
2. Substantial experience (preferably not less than 8 years) in teaching, educational management and curriculum design and development in Higher Education; and
3. A good record of research and publications.

Assistant Professor Rank
1. A relevant Doctorate in teaching English or closely related field;
2. Teaching experience in Higher Education; and
3. Research experience with a record of publications.

Senior Lecturer Rank
1. A Master’s Degree in teaching English or closely related field,
2. At least 5 years of full-time teaching, curriculum design and development experience at post-secondary level; and
3. Substantial programme or relevant academic management experience.

Lecturer Rank
1. A Master’s degree in teaching English or closely related field, and
2. At least 3 years of full-time teaching, curriculum design and development experience at post-secondary level.

Assistant Lecturer Rank
1. A Master’s degree in teaching English or closely related field; and
2. Preferably some teaching experience at post-secondary level.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:

Appointment will be made on fixed-term contracts commencing August 2019 (or as soon as possible) for full-time positions, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.

Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience. The College offers group medical insurance, staff development support, research grant, annual leave and sick leave, and Mandatory Provident Fund to eligible appointee(s).

Important notes to Job Applicants

Appointees will be required to undergo a teacher registration process with the Education Bureau. In order to complete this process, the following are required:

  1. Applicants with overseas qualifications will have to go through qualification assessment to be conducted by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation and Vocational Qualifications. The costs for the qualification assessment will be borne by the appointees.
  2. Degrees must be from nationally accredited institutions
  3. Appointees will have to undergo a medical examination. Reimbursement of costs subject to a ceiling is applicable.
  4. Local applicants will have to undergo a Sexual Conviction Record Check / Overseas applicants will have to present a police report before appointment can be confirmed.
