YCCECE Professors Share Research Findings during Shitao Cup Address
Professor Allan Yuen, President of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE), and Dr Brad Chan, Assistant Professor of YCCECE, were recently invited by the Early Childhood Education and Special Education Research Institute of the Jiangsu Academy of Educational Sciences to deliver keynote opening speeches at the “Shitao Cup Teaching and Research Exchange Week”, the Institute’s annual ECE and special education event.
Professor Yuen is an experienced scholar with deep expertise in education research. His presentation of an academic report – Exploring Research Methods in Early Childhood Education – illustrated how the learning path of young children is intimately connected to research.
Meanwhile, in his academic report – ECE STEM Education: Innovative Model Integrating Family, Community and School – Dr Brad Chan demonstrated how to implement “Learning through play” and ECE STEM education. He also introduced the “JumpStarter” programme that provides implementation methods to connect families, communities, schools and sport.
Shitao Cup is a big and highly respected annual academic event in the ECE sector of Jiangsu and an important platform to promote professional development of ECE teachers. This year’s Shitao Cup was held online December 8-11, 2020. Over ten thousand ECE and special education professionals from Jiangsu, Nanjing, Suqian, Changzhou, Wuxi and Zhangjiagang participated to share findings of education research in four key areas: child development assessment; kindergarten education research; nature and living education; and special education and integrated education.
YCCECE would like to thank the Jiangsu Academy of Educational Sciences for their invitation to participate. We are grateful to have had the chance to share and exchange ideas with mainland professionals and ECE workers.
