Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ho have made a gift to establish a scholarship primarily for Filipino students to study at the Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) in Hong Kong, the first specialized institution in Early Childhood Education in Hong Kong.

Through this scholarship so generously supported by Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ho, YCCECE hopes to promote the importance of Early Childhood Education to the Filipino community and to realize Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ho’s aspirations to elevate the quality of Chinese education to its community starting from a young age.

The scholarship will support two students enrolling in the 4-year Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education (BEdECE) programme and one student in the 2-Year Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education (HDECE) programme for the entirety of the studies.

A scholarship panel comprising business and community leaders in the Cebu community as well as representatives from YCCECE will be convened to select the most qualified applicants. It is through the involvement of the key players in the Cebu community that the impact of this scholarship will be appreciated, thereby garnering further support from the community to perpetuate this scholarship for posterity. The scholarship would also be made available to students from other nationalities under special circumstances.

Mr. Anton Ho shared his aspirations for supporting the scholarship, “We hope that this scholarship will allow talented and promising students from the Philippines to acquire useful knowledge and skills at YCCECE, and contribute to society and future generations, whether in the Philippines or in Hong Kong. YCCECE is a leader in early childhood education and we looking forward to a fruitful partnership in the years to come.”

Professor Shir-ming Shen, President of YCCECE praised Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ho for their pioneering act of generosity, “This philanthropic contribution highlights the importance of advanced early childhood education that will help build a better future for children. The scholarship will provide opportunities to Filipino students to join the College and learn the most updated theories and practices of early childhood education. The donation is also a big encouragement to YCCECE, the whole College team will carry on striving for our mission to nurture passionate early childhood educators for the world.”

Applications will be accepted in July. For further information on the scholarship, please contact the College at +852 3977 9877.
