Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education Visited the Department of Early Childhood Education of Nanjing Normal University

The Department of Early Childhood Education in Nanjing Normal University (NNU) offers first-class undergraduate programmes in China, which mainly train research-oriented early childhood educators. China’s early childhood education had its origin in NNU.

On 20 November 2019, members from Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE), visited the Early Childhood Education Department of NNU. These visiting members included Professor Allan Yuen, President; Professor Soyoun Bae, Dean of Studies; Professor Shi Ping, Adjunct Professor; and Ms. Sophie Xu, Head of Mainland Affairs Office. Professor Haiying Wang, Dean of the Early Childhood Education Department of NNU; Associate Professor Ji Yue; Jinxia Yuen and lecturer Guo Yuanyuan, warmly welcomed the visitors. Professor Yueyan Du, Vice President of the School of Education Science of NNU, attended the meeting as well.

Professor Haiying Wang introduced the history and professional construction of the Early Childhood Education Department of NNU, as well as the characteristics of research-oriented undergraduate talents in early childhood education. Their efforts were greatly appreciated and the meticulous, professional and pragmatic culture of the Early Childhood Education Department of NNU were prominently displayed.

After hearing from the representatives of NNU, Professor Allan Yuen, President; introduced the history, programmes and characteristics of the Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education. The team of NNU also learned about the functions of the Pamela Peck Discovery. In addition, the YCCECE visitors introduced and discussed the four-year Bachelor’s Degree programme, along with pedagogy with the NNU team. YCCECE’s professional development in early childhood education has aroused the interest of many. The NNU team was invited to visit the College in Hong Kong in the future.

Through this meeting and exchange, YCCECE has reached a consensus with NNU and plan to maintain contact and exchanges in the future as further cooperative opportunities are explored.
