YCCECE welcomes the Visiting Professor, Karen Liu from Indiana State University

YCCECE is delighted to welcome our Visiting Professor Karen C. Liu, who is the Professor Emerita of Early Childhood Education at Indiana State University and served as a Board member on various professional early childhood education organizations, such as World Organization for Early Childhood Education-USA, Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI). Prof. Liu teaches one course to our students from the Bachelor of Education (Hon) in Early Childhood Education (Part-time) and shares her valuable experience in Integrated Lesson Planning for Kindergarten and Childcare Settings.
Prof. Liu is an internationally recognised early childhood educator who has disseminated more than 100 scholarly works. She also served as a keynote speaker, consultant, and workshop trainer globally. In her more than 30 years of a higher education teaching career, Prof. Liu has received many honors and awards. She was profiled in the Who’s Who Among Asian Americans in 1994. She received the Petty Smith Hill Professional Achievement Award in recognizing her leadership and contributions in early childhood field globally by the Association of Childhood Education International (ACEI) in 2012, the President’s Medal for Excellence in Teaching and Research in 2011, Holmstedt Distinguished Professor title in 2002, President’s Commission for the Enhancement of Diversity Award in 2002, and the Distinguished Early Childhood Educator in Higher Education in 2001. Prof. Liu was also elected as the President for the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) from 2008-2010, the first non-North American president in ACEI’s 127 years history.
