Development and Validation of Quality Framework and Standards for Early Childhood Education in China: A Study Based in Guangdong and Jiangsu Provinces
This seminar will lead us to delve into a study that has explored the development and validation of a Quality Framework and Standards for ECE in China, focusing on Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces. Addressing the need for improved kindergarten evaluations, the research team from YCCECE, alongside regional collaborators, developed the Chinese Kindergarten Quality Rating Scale (CKQRS).

During this event, speakers will delve into the profound relationship between healthy parent-child relationships and emotions, drawing from educational psychology theories and extensive practical experiences.
Enhancing Understanding of Autism: A Parenting Workshop Adopting an Experiential Approach
Samson will share an innovative 8-week parenting workshop for parents of autistic children which he and his team developed in 2023. This workshop focused on enhancing parental understanding of autism and equipping parents with effective strategies for interacting with their autistic children. Through different activities, parents are given the opportunity to experience how autism feels like, fostering a deeper connection with their children and insight into their daily challenges. The workshop includes practical suggestions and techniques to support parents in interacting with autistic children.
Professional Development, Evidence-based Practices and Child Outcomes: The Who, the What and the How of Effective Practice
This session draws on examples of effective professional development and describes lessons learnt from research and practice, focussing on the 'who', 'what' and 'how' of effective PD design and delivery.

Developing Chinese in bilingual and trilingual contexts: language input and early development
Many young children in Hong Kong typically acquire Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) alongside English. This talk reports and discusses recent discoveries by Dr Mai and her research team. In a series of longitudinal and cross-sectional studies, Dr Mai and her research team have investigated effects of language input and their interaction with cross-linguistic influence in children acquiring Chinese in bilingual or trilingual contexts.

The Development of Online Teaching and Learning in HEIs: Introducing the Online Course 'Comparative Early Childhood Education'
Professor Li Minyi will be sharing the design of an online curriculum in Comparative Early Childhood Education (https://www.icourse163.org/course/BNU-1206418809), which has been nationally recognized as a first-class undergraduate course by the Ministry of Education. In the course, Prof Li discusses with early childhood educators and students early education systems in different countries and regions, including the evolution and the state of the art in Early Childhood Education and Care, focusing on issues such as the development and revolution in EC ideologies, national curriculum development and implementation, as well as the transition from kindergarten to primary, and the integration between care and early childhood education.
