Over 20 students and faculty from Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) went to Shanghai for a discovery tour from June 1 to 6, 2025. Organized by the Student Development Office, this programme promotes whole-person development by combining academic learning, cultural exploration, community service, and co-curricular activities.
During the tour, participants visited kindergartens within the Yew Chung Yew Wah Education Network (YCYW), our partner schools for the Yew Chung Yew Wah Teachers of Tomorrow program. They observed diverse early childhood education practices and curricula, connecting theory with real-world experience.
Students also engaged in a community service project with a local non-government organisation (NGO) through the YCYW Seeds of Hope programme, fostering social responsibility and compassion while supporting Shanghai communities.
The itinerary included visits to key cultural landmarks, enhancing participants’ understanding of Shanghai’s heritage and its role in education and society.
This discovery tour integrates professional growth, cultural exchange, and meaningful service to prepare students as compassionate and globally aware educators. We look forward to the positive impact this experience will have on their development and leadership.
