10 October, 2025 — For the first time, the Lee Hysan Foundation proudly hosted a social event celebrating ethnic minority (EM) LHF scholars, including those from Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE)—a testament to the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, diversity, and educational equity.
The EM LHF Scholars Gathering brought together 21 outstanding students, all scholarship beneficiaries of the Lee Hysan Foundation, representing seven nationalities: Pakistani, Nepalese, Punjabi, Indian, Indonesian, Thai, and Filipino. These scholars, mostly pursuing studies in early childhood education and social work—from higher diploma to master’s level—came from institutions including YCCECE, Saint Francis University, The Zubin Foundation, The University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Baptist University. The gathering provided a warm, inclusive space for students to share their journeys and build lasting cross-cultural connections.
A highlight of the evening was a group presentation on education and skills building, led by four YCCECE LHF scholars alongside others. They explored key challenges faced by EM communities—such as language barriers, limited opportunities for play, and a lack of accessible resources for parents. The group proposed practical solutions like language clubs and community workshops to better support EM children and families. Their presentation sparked meaningful reflection and exchange among participants.
