The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Child and Family Counselling * is purposefully designed to address the growing societal demand for qualified mental health and family support professionals in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and beyond. Grounded in systemic, ecological, and evidence-based frameworks, the programme adopts a specialized interdisciplinary focus that integrates core psychological science with specialized child development and family systems theories. Students gain a deep theoretical foundation that enables them to critically analyse contemporary psychological, developmental, and relational challenges faced by children and families across diverse community and educational settings.
Complementing academic rigor, the programme places strong emphasis on progressive practical training and clinical readiness. Through structured skill-building laboratories, specialized campus learning facilities, and an intensive year-long supervised internship, students learn to deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and assessments. The curriculum instills high ethical standards, cultural sensitivity, and multidisciplinary collaboration, equipping graduates to function effectively as compassionate, reflective practitioners. Whether entering direct employment in social services, education, and healthcare sectors or advancing to specialized master’s degree studies, graduates emerge fully prepared to make meaningful contributions to societal well-being.
