The Jockey Club Spark & Spot Project officially launched its Cohort 2 with a vibrant Tea Reception held at the Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE). The event, which took place at the College's Tin Wan Campus, welcomed nearly all invited guests, creating a lively and collaborative atmosphere to kickstart the next phase of this impactful initiative.
Structured as a three-cohort programme, Cohort 2 includes 31 participating schools, with 15 independent schools joining from outside the four partnering school sponsoring bodies—Caritas Hong Kong, Hong Kong Christian Service, Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association, and The Salvation Army Hong Kong. This expansion reflects the growing reach and influence of the Jockey Club Spark & Spot Project in promoting inclusive and innovative practices in early childhood education.
The reception brought together school principals and head teachers from Cohort 2 schools, alongside representatives from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and the four sponsoring bodies. Also in attendance were service vendors and part-time coaches, who played a key role in facilitating meaningful exchanges and fostering connections among participants.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for schools to deepen their understanding of the project’s aims and objectives, while also serving as a platform for networking and collaboration. Through informal conversations and shared experiences, educators began building relationships that will support their journey throughout the programme.
Beyond its ceremonial significance, the Tea Reception emphasized the importance of community-building within the early childhood education sector. By bringing together diverse schools and stakeholders, the Jockey Club Spark & Spot Project continues to cultivate a culture of shared learning, mutual support, and creative problem-solving.
As Cohort 2 embarks on its professional development journey, the reception set a positive tone for the months ahead—one of connection, curiosity, and commitment to enhancing learning environments for young children across Hong Kong.
