    • The Jockey Club Spark & Spot Project marked a significant milestone with the successful conclusion of its final Professional Development Session for Cohort 1 schools, held at Tai Kok Tsui Catholic Primary School. The event brought together over 80 participants, including dedicated teachers, principals, and esteemed guests from the project’s four sponsoring bodies—Hong Kong Christian Service (HKCS), YWCA, Caritas, and The Salvation Army—as well as a representative from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

This celebratory occasion not only marked the culmination of a 10-session professional development journey, but also served as a graduation ceremony for the 21 participating schools. The programme has been instrumental in equipping educators with innovative strategies to enhance early childhood education environments across Hong Kong.

The event opened with inspiring reflections from Project Co-Directors Dr. Rohnii Tse and Nancy Ting, who highlighted the transformative journey of the participating schools and the collaborative spirit that fueled the project’s success. Their remarks were followed by heartfelt speeches from representatives of the four sponsoring bodies, who shared their experiences, key learnings, and the positive impact the programme has had on their schools and teaching communities.

One of the most engaging features of the event was the gallery walk, where each of the 21 schools presented their learning journeys through visually compelling foamboard displays. These exhibits sparked lively conversations and idea exchanges among attendees, showcasing the creativity, dedication, and growth that have defined the Spark & Spot experience.

Adding further depth to the event was a panel discussion moderated by Mrs. Winnie Yeung, a Part-Time Coach with the project. The panel featured five educators—teachers and principals—who shared candid insights into their personal and professional growth, the challenges they overcame, and the meaningful changes they’ve implemented in their schools.

The final session was not just a conclusion, but a celebration of progress and a springboard for continued innovation in early childhood education. The Spark & Spot Project has laid a strong foundation for sustainable change, empowering educators to create nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating learning environments.
