Professor Kerry Lee, President of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE), was invited to deliver a keynote address at the Healthy Living Symposium 2025, held from September 17th to 19th in Budapest, Hungary. The event, jointly organised by the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network and the National University of Singapore, gathered world-leading experts to explore the future of health and human potential.
Professor Lee's speech, titled “Improving human potential by getting early childhood right,” underscored the pivotal role of early experiences in shaping lifelong health and cognitive outcomes. He presented initial findings from a large-scale intervention study in Hong Kong, aimed at mitigating the effects of poverty on young children. Furthermore, he elaborated on the “Yew Chung Approach” to teacher training, which blends progressive education with cultural beliefs to foster a lifelong love of learning.
This engagement not only showcased the YCCECE's leadership in pioneering educational research, but also highlighted the vital role of quality early education in laying the foundation for lifelong health and human potential.
