    YCCECE Delegation Visits SYSU’s Department of Psychology to Launch New Chapter of Strategic Collaboration

    • On 21 May, Dr Lydia L.S. Chan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Yew Chung Education Foundation (YCEF) and Chairperson of the College Council of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education(YCCECE), led a delegation to visit the Department of Psychology at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Professor Zuo Bin, Head of the Department of Psychology at SYSU, along with his team, hosted the reception, accompanied by Zheng Junqing, Party Secretary of the School of Journalism and Communication. The Yew Chung delegation presented commemorative gifts to the department, and both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the vision and pathways for educational collaboration.

       

      Professor Zuo Bin highlighted the profound historical connections and shared development goals between SYSU's Department of Psychology (established in 1927) and YCEF. He proposed deepening collaboration in joint graduate programs, including the Master of Applied Psychology (Counseling and Health Psychology Specialization), Master of Education (Mental Health and Educational Management Specialization), and Doctoral Programs in Health and Clinical Psychology.Additionally, he outlined a collaborative framework encompassing joint student training programs, faculty exchange mechanisms, and student recruitment initiatives targeting Hong Kong and Macau.

       

      Dr Lydia L.S. Chan emphasized that YCCECE will soon launch a psychology program to advance specialized exploration in early childhood education. Leveraging the distinct strengths of both institutions in academic research and practical pedagogy, she expressed anticipation for establishing long-term cooperation mechanisms with SYSU's Department of Psychology in areas such as curriculum co-development, shared faculty resources, and joint research initiatives.

       

      This visit marks a new chapter in bilateral collaboration. Moving forward, both institutions will leverage this exchange as a catalyst, prioritizing resource complementarity to progressively advance multi-tiered cooperation.
