The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Professional Exchange session came to a heartwarming and inspiring close last Saturday (20 December) at YCIS ECE (Tseung Kwan O). A big thank you to every early childhood educator who joined us — together, we shared a truly enriching afternoon!

Passing on Wisdom: Special thanks to two pioneering figures in the field — Dr. Betty Chan and YCIS School Supervisor & Honorary Fellow Dr. Maria Chan — for their invaluable insights. They took us on a journey through time, recounting how Hong Kong’s ECE evolved from its early beginnings in the 1970s to professionalisation, including the world’s first international conference on ECE and the birth of the very first YCIS ECE. These stories, spanning half a century, inspired everyone present.

Gathering of Professionals: Building the Future of ECE Together Beyond the precious historical reflections, the most uplifting moment was bringing together seasoned kindergarten principals. Witnessing their decades-long dedication to ECE - the passion that has shaped today’s high-quality learning environments - was truly moving.

We hope this spirit of professionalism will be passed on like a torch, as we join hands with all education partners to continue creating even better learning spaces for the next generation. Thank you once again for your participation!
